Salvington area

Salvington, Half Moon lane, is about 2 miles from our B & B, so a little over 30 minute walk. there is however the number 5 bus which passes our guest house and goes to Durrington via Broadwater and Salvington.

Salvington is now mainly a residential area. Many housing estates being built on the agricultural land that once made Salvington. :

  • On Half Moon Lane close to the boundary between Salvington and High Slavington is  The John Selden  pub. Not only serving food but using it's lounge bar and the function room provides a number of regular musical events. It is also one of the regular venues for the Sompting Village Morris.
  • Just out of the area, but close by, the Thomas a Becket pub restaurant is at the junction of Poulters Lane and Rectory Road. Its name reflects the areas link with Thomas a Becket. It is a Youngs pub with a good reputation for meals in it's  bars and and restaurant.
  • To the north, in High Salvington, is High Salvington Windmill - Worthing's last remaining mill with regular open days.

For more extensive general information the Salvington Wiki page is a good source and linking then to the Tarring and Durrington pages fills in the gaps..

Worthing Town

We are on the A24 into Worthing and just 3/4 mile from the A27. There is private parking and also the adjacent street, Georgia Avenue, has unrestricted parking.

  • Worthing town centre is a 10 -15 minute or short walk away. Driving to the town there are a number of centrally located car parks as well as paid for on street parking. Many of the residential streets in Worthing have restrictions to allow resident permit parking but we have off street parking and unresricted parking on the adjacent streets.
  • Worthing centre has a good choice of nationwide shops as well as specialist local stores.
  • The Assembly Hall has many musical events, talks and of course Wurlitzer performances and dance events (check out the sprung floor!)
  • There are 2 cinema screens in the centre, the Connaught also features on live events.
  • On the seafront, about 25 minute walk from our B & B, there is the Dome Cinema (early 20th century), Worthing Pier and Worthing Pavillion. The Pavillion especilly is well known for putting on a wide variety of live events throughout the year
  • Along the sea front there is 10 pin bowling, bowls, pitch and putt and good level walking as far as Littlehampton.
  • Going East along the seafront there is mini / crazy golf, Splashpoint Leisure centre and further along Brooklands Go Kart, the Par 3 Golf course and Brooklands Pleasure Park. The sea front path continues to Lancing and Shoreham and  then onwards to Brighton.

For many of the areas in BN14 and the nearby villages in or near the South Downs we can offer perhaps the ideal combination of access to Worthing with it's communications, leisure  and dining facilities with the  convenience of easy access to the countryside.
